Now in my third year, I am passionate about soccer and actively participate in hackathons, where I collaborate with friends to innovate and solve complex challenges. I enjoy balancing my academic pursuits with my love for sports and technology.

I joined the lab to explore my interest in human–computer interaction and to better understand how people engage with technology. My academic interests include AI, Machine Learning, and the cognitive sciences that connect with them. I am Shrivats Manikandan, a current junior at Kirksville Senior High School, and my previous studies have investigated the effects of methamphetamine on the blood-brain barrier, a critical field of research in neuroscience and pharmacology. I like to combine my values for both science and helping others through direct community involvement and application-oriented research. I always strive to enhance my understanding of neuroscience and exhibit excellence when it comes to benefiting my surrounding community with research.

My research centers on cardiovascular pharmacology, with a particular focus on reducing myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury through the use of BMX-001, a superoxide dismutase-2 mimetic. I’m passionate about integrating scientific research with community service, aiming to translate my findings into meaningful contributions that benefit public health. I am dedicated to advancing cardiovascular science to create lasting, positive impacts in my community.
